Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

You’ve heard the old saying, “The eyes are the windows to the Soul.” The eyes tell it all. Happy, sad or sick you can see it in the eyes. Dark circles under the eyes can make you feel very self-conscience and can be very embarrassing.

What can you do about dark circles? There are many home remedies and cosmetic creams that are suppose to get rid of or decrease the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. I don’t have to tell they don’t work. I know because I have tired them all. If these eye-remedies did work to get rid of dark circles, then the problem would be solved, right? They are all topical solutions – creams, lotions, potions and food products. None of them will significantly decrease dark circles around your eyes. Why, because we’ve been attacking this problem in the wrong way. You will not get rid of dark circles with a topical treatment. Dark circles are an “inside-out” problem and need to be dealt with at the root cause, not the end result.

So what could be wrong on the inside that shows up as dark circles on the outside? An iron deficiency or a form of anemia. Anemia is a condition characterized by abnormally low levels of healthy red blood cells. Almost two-thirds of the iron in the body is found in hemoglobin, the protein in the red blood cells that carries oxygen to tissues. Iron deficiency can be associated with low dietary intake of iron, inadequate absorption of iron or excessive blood loss.

Dark circles are said to be caused by a problem with the way blood is circulating through the thin tissue surrounding the eyes. It’s more than just the circulation of the blood. The blood circulating is lacking a sufficient amount of oxygen. The oxygen is insufficient because the blood is lacking the correct amount of iron required to generate the proper amount of oxygen in the blood.

Major illnesses such as kidney disease, thyroid disease, and cancer are also linked to dark circles under the eyes, but if your dark circles are related to an iron deficiency and not a major illness or disease, you may be able to significantly decrease the intensity of your dark circles by building up the iron in your blood stream. You can build up your iron with an iron supplement, and over the course of months you may gradually see your dark circles lighten.

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency Anemia
In terms of signs of anemia, it’s important to realize that iron deficiency anemia may show no signs or symptoms at all, but some people may notice that their hair growth has been noticeably slower, or grows in unusually thin. Their finger nails are thin and weak, and they may feel tired and can’t really figure out why.

The following symptoms have been attributed to iron deficiency anemia.
o Paleness
o Feeling tired
o Low endurance during exercise
o Cold hands and feet
o Brittle or weak nails
o Headaches
o Dark circles under the eyes

For adults who are not pregnant, the CDC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends taking 50mg to 60mg of oral elemental iron, the approximate amount of elemental iron in 300mg of ferrous sulfate, twice daily for three months for the therapeutic treatment of iron deficiency/anemia. Iron pills can be difficult for the body to absorb, and can cause severe constipation. Natural liquid iron found in health food stores, not drug stores is much easier for the body to absorb, and therefore the body retains more of the iron. Studies show that the body will only absorb about 20% of most solid iron supplements and eliminate 80%, and that leads to the side affects of constipation, gas and bloating that many people experience when taking traditional iron pills. Natural liquid iron does not need to dissolve, so it is easier for the body to utilize and retain. 98% of Natural liquid iron has the potential of being absorbed by the body. Natural liquid iron is faster and more effective at bringing iron levels in the body back to normal, and liquid iron does not cause bloating, gas or constipation.

If you suspect that you may be anemic, your doctor can look for symptoms and other physical clues that may point to a cause. A blood test can confirm whether the diagnosis is anemia, and may also help point to the underlying cause.

Topical solutions will not get rid of the dark circles under your eyes. If you are anemic, you may need an iron supplement to bring your iron levels back to normal. Liquid iron, available in health foods stores can bring your iron levels into normal range and decrease the dark circles under your eyes. You can do something about the dark circles under your eyes, something that really works.
