Herpes Infection During Pregnancy – Tips
Herpes infection is an “invisible” disease, which sometimes can not be revealed at the early stages. But what to do if you got pregnant and then in some time discovered you have herpes?
Just try to calm down first of all. Remember the statistics: most of pregnant women having herpes still born healthy children. It is not something invented, but a real fact. So, you should take the situation under control and view it from another side. Though herpes is very hard to cure, it is still possible to decrease its symptoms, to minimize them as much as possible and may be in some time to get rid of them completely. You just need to be patient and think of your future child.
The most dangerous risk associated with herpes in pregnant women is the possibility that the newborn can get infected in the process of delivery. Just at that point you should:
- first of all, tell immediately your health care provider you have herpes. It will help to take any measures which would prevent from the transmission of the disease to the newborn.
- follow all the commendations of your doctor. If he/she insists on cesarean as most safe way for the child – put up with it and agree.
- if the child still got infected during the delivery process, the first symptoms usually start emerging in 2 – 4 weeks after the delivery process. If you notice any symptoms, check with your health care provider.
Remember, HERPES is not a sentence. And pregnancy during herpes is not a tragedy. Lots of women all over the world suffer from this disease and still born healthy children. That is why just try to follow all the necessary instructions and enjoy these wonderful period relaxing and thinking of your future baby.
