The Cancer of Serous Membranes

Many people must have been confused when we said cancer of serous membranes. It is because many people are mistaken and said that it is a primary lung cancer. Pericardial mesothelioma is a cancer which attacks the serous membranes and its affect the lining of the heart. It is usually spread and attacks the lung too and that is why many people are mistaken and said it is one of primary lung cancer. However, it is not and you better keep that in mind because if it has attacked the lung then it means the stage of the infection has increased and we need to be careful of it.

It is not always attacking the lining of the heart but it also may attack the lining of the abdomen and it is called peritoneal mesothelioma when it does. That is why we need to be able to identify and know the difference of these two. The cancer of the serous membranes can be very dangerous if it is not diagnose at its early stage. That is why we need to be careful with it. There have been many things suspected as causes of mesothelioma but one of the most often suspected causes is asbestos exposure.
